The Capricorn Apartment/Hotel is a nice mid-range property located near downtown Suva that is very reasonably priced. It offers hotel rooms, 1 bedroom apartments and 2 bedroom apartments.
Frommer's Review
Although it's a steep, 2-block walk uphill from Cumming Street, Mulchand Patel's establishment is popular with Australians and New Zealanders who like to do their own cooking. The three-story, L-shaped building looks out on Suva Harbour and down the mountainous coast. Private balconies off each apartment share the view, as does a pear-shaped swimming pool on the Capricorn's grounds. Except for cane and wicker chairs and coffee tables, furniture in the older, inexpensive units is on the plain side, but the mattresses here are new and among the firmest in Fiji. Mulchand and his friendly staff make sure these roomy efficiencies are kept spotless. A dozen modern, condolike units are luxuriously furnished and much better outfitted than the older apartments. Each unit has an air conditioner, although windows on both sides of the building let the cooling trade winds blow through. Continental breakfasts are available on request, and the reception staff will sell you canned goods from its small on-premises store or have "Dial-A-Meal" deliver to your room.
